My Story: I Am Proud To Say That Even After Being A Doctor I Never Became A Part Of That Profession
“While studying here as a Doctor daily I would see poor patients and their relatives facing problems of getting drinking water and food in the hospital. In those years there was no water available in hospitals due to which poor patients had to survive without having water or else they had to buy water bottles at some costly rates from outside. This situation prompted me to start free water service outside the hospital for 24 hours. Even though I was studying during those days and had no source of income, I started this social activity out of my own pocket money. Right after becoming Doctor in the year 1987, I decided to dedicate my life to serve this poor patients and their relatives by providing free food to them. I never became part of the doctor profession and instead started with this social service. Daily we provide Tea and Khichdi to the poor people from morning 6:00 to 8:00 and provide free water through out the day. It has almost been 29 years since me and my wife are doing this. Over the years there has been a lot of changes, what started of as a free food just for patients and relatives has now turned into free food for everyone. We don’t serve on the basis of caste, religion or community, if you are a human then you can have the food here. Our services is just like a temple, it’s open for all. Everyday around 500 people have the food here and about 4k commuters drink water. At the end it’s not important about what degree you hold or what job do you have, all that matters is that how many lives have you impacted through your passion or profession and I am proud to say that even after being a doctor I never became a part of that profession and instead decided to serve needy and poor people.
Remember during school days we all used to say a pledge ” All Indians are my Brothers and Sisters “. Somewhere down the line I think people of our country have forgot that pledge, it’s high time that we make them remember that those poor are also like your brothers and sisters. Try to be helpful to them in whatever way you can .”
