Now Use Restaurant & Hotels’ Toilets For Free Without Any Hesitation: Karnataka Hotel Owners
Many times we end up buying a bottle of water or coffee unnecessarily in a restaurant just because we want to use the toilet, that bladder bursting ordeal of looking for a toilet to wee is over, well at least in Karnataka.
The Karnataka Restaurant Owners’ Association has come up with a spontaneous initiative allowing all citizens in the state to be able to use washrooms/toilets for free, easing out the citizens’ problem of finding public toilets.
“Restaurants always have toilets. We have come to know that in high-end coffee shops and restaurants, people are not allowed to use the washrooms for free. Hence, we decided to make it mandatory now. Sometimes, people have to buy something from the hotel or bistro in order to use the toilet, but it will not be so anymore,” said Mr Rao, President of the Association.
It is not just hotels, but pubs and bars will also allow citizens to use their washrooms for free, starting Wednesday.” He added.
The decision came two days after hotels and restaurants in South Delhi decided to allow women and children their washroom/toilets however unlike South Delhi, not just women and children but all the citizens will be able to use the washroom in restaurants throughout the Karnataka state.
Mayor G Padmavathi said that she held talks with the Bengaluru Restaurant Owners’ Association in order to implement this rule in the city.
“It is difficult for women especially, and after the New Delhi order stating that restaurants must allow citizens to use the washroom for free, we decided to implement it here as well,” she said.
The Logical Indian Take
The Logical Indian applauds the decision taken by The Karnataka Restaurant Owners’ Association. It’s indeed a welcome step considering the scarcity of public toilets in our country. We also hope that other states and metro cities’ administration take note of it and take such initiative and also make constructive efforts to facilitate cities with more public toilets/washrooms.
Inability to find or use toilets when outside the home also has implications for bladder or kidney health when forced to hold, it can also result in embarrassing accidents.
It is also important to mention that we as citizens behave responsibly and maintain hygiene in by not abusing such facilities.
