MP: 2-Yr-Old Boy Sacrificed By A Couple In A Desire To Have A Son
A two-year-old boy, Yash was abducted and murdered by a couple in Gadhi Billoda village near Gautampura area of Madhya Pradesh as part of a human sacrifice, as has been reported by Hindustan Times.
The police have arrested a man by the name of Dilip Bagri, his two wives and the tantrik (sorcerer), Govardhan Bagari, on whose insinuation this brutal crime took place.
The incident had occurred last month but came to the fore with the arrest of the accused.
Yash’s body was found in a sack in front of a house in the village, and the preliminary stages of investigations revealed that the cause of death was murder. The police had also considered the possibility of any case of enmity with the deceased’s father, Sunil Keer.
Bagri had two daughters from a previous marriage, and when his wife died after 12 years, he married twice over a period of time. His only wish was to have a son.
However, his desire was not fulfilled as both his wives were unable to bear children. “It was then that he consulted a tantrik. It was on his advice that he sacrificed a two-year-old, believing that this would give him a male child,” said DIG Harinarayanchari Mishra, speaking to The Logical Indian.
He abducted the two-year-old boy from his neighbourhood on June 9, and at night, Bagri and his wives started piercing pins on the body of the child.
“When the child started crying, they covered his mouth, and he died in the process, but they continued with the ritual,” Mishra said.“The post-mortem report has revealed that the boy was killed brutally,” he added.
A similar incident had taken in Telangana when a farmer, who wanted a male child, burnt his pregnant wife and their six-year-old daughter alive in Yadadri district on 17 July.
The deceased were identified as Banoth Savitri, 26, and her elder daughter Sridevi, 6. Savitri was married to a farmer, Banoth Shankar Naik of Raavipadu Tanda in Bibinagar Mandal in the district. Naik was an alcoholic and had a history of harassing his wife.
Savitri was pregnant with their third child. However, Naik, on the presumption that this child would also be a girl, came home drunk and picked up a fight with his wife.
Around 2 am at night, he poured kerosene on his wife and elder daughter, who was fast asleep. Both of them died on the spot and Naik fled. The police have registered a murder case against him.
The Logical Indian community severely condemns these incidents and wishes to bring to fore the biased nature of our society that still desires for a male child instead of a female one. It is high time that we stop adhering to deep-rooted patriarchal values and start treating both men and women as equals.
